SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 24, 2021 — Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADSK) has officially announced its acquisition of Innovyze, a leading provider of water infrastructure software based in Portland, Oregon. The deal, valued at $1 billion net of cash, is expected to close during Autodesk’s first quarter of Fiscal Year 2022. This strategic move strengthens Autodesk’s position as a key player in the digital transformation of the water industry, offering end-to-end solutions from design to operations. The acquisition aligns with Autodesk's broader digital twin strategy, aiming to create more sustainable and efficient water systems. Innovyze brings a robust portfolio of modeling, simulation, and predictive analytics tools that help optimize water distribution networks, wastewater treatment plants, and flood protection systems. By integrating these capabilities with Autodesk’s own design and construction software—such as Civil 3D, InfraWorks, and the Autodesk Construction Cloud—engineers and utility companies can now make smarter decisions, reduce costs, and improve long-term planning. For over three decades, Innovyze has been a trusted name in the water sector, serving more than 3,000 customers worldwide, including major utility providers, top engineering firms, and environmental consultants. Its solutions are used in cities across five continents, helping manage critical water resources for millions of people. With global water demand rising and climate challenges intensifying, the need for modernized infrastructure has never been greater. According to recent estimates, nearly two billion people lack access to safe drinking water, and by 2025, over two-thirds of the world’s population will live in water-stressed regions. The investment required to address this gap is projected to reach $1.9 trillion by 2030. “We can’t build a better future without managing our most precious resource—water,” said Andrew Anagnost, President and CEO of Autodesk. “This acquisition not only enhances our technology offerings but also supports a more sustainable and resilient water industry.” Amy Bunszel, Executive Vice President of AEC Design Solutions at Autodesk, added, “Innovyze’s advanced analytics and asset management tools give us the visibility needed to detect and prevent issues before they escalate. This is a crucial step toward smarter, more proactive water management.” Colby Manwaring, CEO of Innovyze, expressed excitement about the partnership: “For 35 years, we’ve quietly supported the daily lives of millions around the world. Now, by joining forces with Autodesk, we’re taking our mission to the next level—helping communities manage water more efficiently and sustainably.” The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to be finalized in April 2021.
