This is from Steve Redick: Steve Redick photo It’s always fascinating to see how vehicles can end up in such extreme positions after an accident. The level of damage here is pretty severe, and it's clear that the impact was massive. I wonder what happened that night—was it a high-speed crash, or maybe a vehicle that lost control? Either way, it's a reminder of how dangerous driving can be. I'm glad Steve took the time to document it, because these kinds of incidents don’t happen every day. On the early morning of February 28th, I captured these images near the 4500 block of North Austin. The photos were taken the following day. I've never seen a car embedded so deeply into the corner of a building before—truly astonishing when you look closely. It's also surprising that the Chicago Fire Department allowed a contractor to handle the wreckage instead of staying on-site. I would have been concerned about potential fires or structural collapse. I wasn't there to witness what led up to this, so I can't say much about the cause, but I felt these pictures were worth sharing.
