Glenview Fire Department

Glenview Fire Department

The Chicago Tribune recently published a story covering the latest developments in the construction of the new Glenview Fire Department headquarters. The project is currently in the final design phase and will be located near the village hall campus on Waukegan Road. Previously, the fire department was housed at 1815 Glenview Road, but that location is now part of a new four-story development. As a result, the department needed to relocate. The former police station on 1215 Waukegan Road, which had been empty for several years, was initially considered for renovation. However, after evaluating the costs, officials decided it would be more efficient to demolish the building and construct a new facility from scratch. Village Manager Todd Hileman explained that there wasn’t a significant cost difference between renovating and rebuilding. The project, estimated at $5.5 million, is expected to be finalized by the village trustees in August. Demolition of the old police station is set to begin in September. During a recent meeting, trustees asked architects to explore expanding the station to accommodate three fire trucks. They also discussed different roof options, with many favoring a shingled roof over a more expensive metal one. Trustee Michael Jenny supported the expansion, suggesting an increase in bunk beds from six to nine. He emphasized the importance of flexibility over aesthetics. Fire Chief Wayne Globerger proposed adding a half bay for the battalion chief’s vehicle, which would make winter access easier. While he supports this idea, he also mentioned the department could adjust its operations if needed. Overall, the new facility aims to provide better space and functionality for the firefighters while keeping costs under control.

Ductile Cast Iron Pipe

Centrifugally Ductile Cast Iron Pipe is a kind of pipe made from spherical graphite cast iron by centrifugal spinning process. The pipes, which can convey many fluid media such as water, oil and gas, are widely used in various pipeline projects for metallurgy, mine, water conservancy, petroleum and urban public service utility.
With its high strength, high elongation, corrosion resistance, resistance to shock, easy construction and many other fine features, ductile iron pipe is the best choice in today's world for conveying water and gas safely. Ductile iron, also called nodular iron or spheroidal graphite iron, is characterized by the presence of spheroidal graphite in the resultant castings.
Ductile iron pipes are available in a range of diameters from 80mm to 1600mm and are suitable for both potable water transmission and distribution (in accordance with BS EN 545) and sewerage (in accordance with BS EN 598).
Ductile iron pipes are simple to joint, can be laid in all weather conditions and often without the need for selected backfill. Its high safety factor and ability to accommodate ground movement make it the ideal pipeline material for a wide range of applications.
