SAN RAFAEL, Calif., November 17, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — At Autodesk University, Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADSK) today announced that it has reached a final agreement to acquire Spacemaker for $240 million net of cash.
Based in Oslo, Norway, Spacemaker employs cloud-based artificial intelligence (AI) and generative design to assist architects, urban planners, and real estate developers in making well-informed early-stage design decisions more swiftly. It also enables enhanced opportunities for sustainability from the very beginning. By evaluating the best options at the outset, Spacemaker helps architects maximize their clients' long-term property investments. The deal is subject to standard closing conditions and is anticipated to close during Autodesk's fourth quarter of fiscal 2021, which ends on January 31, 2021.
The acquisition of Spacemaker strengthens Autodesk's position with a robust platform to promote modern, user-centric automation—powered by AI—and accelerate outcome-driven design capabilities for architects.
Design professionals using Spacemaker can quickly create and assess options for buildings or urban developments. Acting as a partner to the architect, the Spacemaker platform allows users to swiftly generate, refine, and iterate on design alternatives, all while taking into account design criteria and data such as terrain, maps, wind patterns, lighting, traffic flow, zoning regulations, and more.
