(1) The iron oxide industry is a pigment industry that fully utilizes the waste auxiliary resources and recycling economy of other industries. In 2007, the industry comprehensively used 700,000 tons of waste metal scrap, worth 2.1 billion yuan; and the titanium dioxide byproduct sulfuric acid. The amount of ferrous metal used has reached a value of 650,000 tons, which is 3.9 billion yuan; other values ​​of 110 million yuan have been spent on the use of waste acid, spent caustic soda, and waste heat; and the total cost of comprehensive utilization is 2.6 billion yuan. It produced 728,000 tons of various kinds of iron oxide, and the industry’s total sales amounted to RMB 3.354 billion. It has made a certain contribution to the society in the comprehensive utilization of recycling secondary resources.
(2) The actual domestic consumption of iron oxide in 2007 was about 390,400 tons, accounting for about 30% of the world's total consumption.
