Sunwell Seals’ spiral wound gaskets come in four main types:
1. **SW600-R Basic Type**
This is the standard construction type, featuring reinforced inner and outer diameters without filler material to provide better stability and compression characteristics. It is ideal for use with tongue and groove, male and female, or grooved-to-flat face flange assemblies.
2. **SW600-IR Inner Ring Type**
This version includes a solid inner metal ring that acts as a compression stopper. It helps prevent the buildup of solids, reduces turbulent flow of process fluids, and minimizes erosion and damage to the gasket between the flange bore and the inner diameter. The annular space is filled with the inner ring. It is recommended for male and female pipe flanges.
3. **SW600-CG Outer Ring Type**
This type features a solid outer ring that accurately locates the gasket on the flange face, providing additional radial strength to prevent gasket blowout and acting as a compression limiter. When installed, the outer ring makes it easier to place the gasket on the flange face since the outer edge will touch the bolts. It is suitable for flat face and raised face flanges. For classes 900 and above, an internal ring is recommended.
4. **SW600-CGI Inner & Outer Rings Type**
This gasket combines both inner and outer rings, offering additional compression limiting stops for both the inner and outer sides. It prevents corrosion on the flange face at the annular space and is ideal for high-pressure or high-temperature applications. It is especially suitable for flanges rated at class 900 and above, or where corrosive or toxic media are present.
