Introduction to JIS G3106 Steel Plate
JIS G3106 is a Japanese industrial standard that specifies hot-rolled carbon steel plates used for welded structures. This standard includes various grades such as SM400A/B/C, SM490A/B/C, SM490YA/YB, SM520B/C, and SM570. These steel plates are widely used in construction, shipbuilding, mechanical engineering, and other industries due to their excellent strength, formability, and durability.
Each grade of steel has specific applications based on its mechanical properties and chemical composition:
- SM400A/B/C: Used for structural purposes in bridges, buildings, and general construction. These are low-carbon steels with good weldability and formability.
- SM490A/B/C: Suitable for outdoor engineering, ships, and military structures. They offer higher strength than SM400 grades.
- SM490YA/YB: Designed for heavy-duty welded structures in bridge and highway construction. These grades provide improved impact resistance.
- SM520B/C: High-strength steel plates ideal for critical welded structures. They also have good cold-forming properties.
- SM570: A low-alloy high-strength steel used in heavy machinery, cranes, and large-scale construction projects.
