WASHINGTON – (BUSINESS WIRE) – At the National Press Club today, a groundbreaking report was released, offering fresh and innovative strategies for the federal government, industry leaders, and other key stakeholders to collaborate in addressing the growing crisis of America’s deteriorating infrastructure. Titled *“Making The Grade,â€* this comprehensive document brings together experts from 45 organizations, including corporations, think tanks, academic institutions, and professional associations. It presents a six-point action plan aimed at restoring U.S. leadership in infrastructure and reinvigorating the nation’s global competitiveness.
The report is a direct response to the American Society of Civil Engineers’ (ASCE) recent infrastructure report card, which gave the U.S. a D+ grade. ASCE estimates that $3.6 trillion must be invested by 2020 to make critical upgrades and prevent massive economic losses in business sales, exports, disposable income, and GDP. While the problem has been widely discussed, *“Making The Gradeâ€* provides concrete recommendations and actionable solutions to meet both current and future infrastructure needs.
The six key recommendations include elevating infrastructure to a cabinet-level priority, forming regional infrastructure alliances, establishing a national infrastructure bank, issuing “opportunity†bonds, creating a national infrastructure index, and engaging the public to build support for infrastructure policy.
Collectively, these ideas leverage modern tools, technology, and innovative thinking to reshape how U.S. infrastructure is planned, funded, designed, and built. The full report can be accessed at [http://autode.sk/MakingTheGrade](http://autode.sk/MakingTheGrade).
Today’s event marks the start of an ongoing effort by the 45 participating organizations to advocate for these policies, foster industry dialogue, and work with lawmakers over the coming years.
