Hey everyone,
This is Daniel Hynd, just wanted to share some photos I took at the Naperville Public Safety Open House that happened yesterday (9/29/2018). It was an awesome event with tons of cool demonstrations going on. There was a live fire demonstration, an extrication drill featuring a medevac helicopter, and even a SWAT team showcase.
I managed to snap quite a few pictures of the different vehicles and teams present. You’ll see photos of the NPD SWAT team, the NFD Water Rescue unit, a brand-new 2018 Dodge Charger for Car 2, a shiny new Ford Expedition for Battalion 1, and a Lifestar Helicopter. There are also shots of two NEMA trucks, and a beautifully restored 1924 Ahrens-Fox pumper that really caught my eye.
Check out this 1924 Ahrens-Fox fire engine. It's incredible how well it's been preserved. The attention to detail in its design is just stunning! Then there’s the Naperville FD Engine 7, looking sharp and ready for action. This open house had so much to offer, and it was great to see all the new equipment they’ve got lined up too. Here’s a shot of the FD’s 2018 open house setup—it was bustling with people checking out everything from fire trucks to emergency response vehicles.
There’s also this fantastic Medvac helicopter, which plays such a crucial role in saving lives. And let’s not forget the two NEMA trucks, essential for handling electrical emergencies. The Naperville EMA trucks were also on display—one of them looks especially sleek and professional.
One of the highlights for me was the Naperville PD SWAT team. Their gear and precision were impressive. Another standout was the Naperville FD Water Rescue Unit 7. They’ve got some serious equipment for aquatic rescues. And here’s another angle of one of their trucks—Engine 5, I believe.
It was a fantastic day overall, filled with learning opportunities and a chance to connect with the community. If you’re ever around during one of these events, I highly recommend checking it out. There’s always something new to learn about public safety!
