The Tuscaloosa plant covers an area of ​​157,000 square feet and ZF plans to expand the plant to 60,000 square feet. ZF’s expansion of the plant was mainly for the production of axle systems, and it has been awarded by the Mercedes-Benz C-class sedan for the supply of axles.
The investment in the expansion of the Tuscaloosa plant will enable ZF to produce 400,000 sets of axles annually, enough to supply 200,000 Mercedes-Benz C-class sedan cars.
The ZF Tuscaloosa plant currently employs 295 people. After the completion of the expansion of the plant, it will start production of the axle system for Mercedes-Benz in 2014 and will employ 85 new employees.
