Steve Redick captured a series of powerful images from the 2-11 alarm fire that occurred last night at 1896 N. Milwaukee Avenue. His photo gallery, filled with dramatic and insightful shots, can be viewed [here](#). These photos offer a unique look into the challenges firefighters faced during this intense incident.
The first image shows Squad 2's Snorkel in action, positioned in Sector 1 to reach a small window in a vacant building. Using their bucket, they were able to apply water directly to the fire. The second photo highlights thick smoke pouring from the structure as firefighters worked with hand lines and elevated master streams to control the blaze.
In another shot, members of Squad 2 are seen using a thermal imager to locate the fire’s source through heavy smoke. The building had very limited access, making the operation even more difficult. A nearby engine tapped a hydrant with two lengths of hard suction hose, ensuring a steady water supply for the firefighting efforts.
An Air Mask Unit was also on scene, providing critical support by replacing used air cylinders for the crews. Lastly, a final image captures Squad 2 waiting for the fire to burn through the roof, which would create better access for the Snorkel's master stream above the building. These images not only document the event but also showcase the skill and determination of the firefighters involved.
