According to fire officials, two individuals were found dead after a fire broke out at a two-story home on the 1200 block of Field Court. The incident took place early this morning, with a neighbor calling 911 around 6:50 a.m. to report the blaze, as confirmed by Bureau Chief Mark Thurow. Additionally, an 84-year-old man and a 56-year-old woman were hospitalized, though their injuries are not considered life-threatening, according to Thurow. Sean Burke, a resident of Field Court, woke up around the same time he heard emergency vehicles approaching. At first, he saw small flames, but within about 15 minutes, the fire had grown significantly. “The fire really took off and became huge,†he said. He also mentioned hearing firefighters over their radios discussing people trapped upstairs. He noticed several ambulances on the scene that weren’t immediately transporting anyone. About 10 minutes after their arrival, firefighters were forced to evacuate the home due to the risk of structural collapse, as stated by Thurow. Two occupants— a 57-year-old man and his 56-year-old wife—were initially missing. When it was safe for firefighters to re-enter the home, they discovered that the second floor had collapsed, and two bodies were found in the basement. This heartbreaking event has left the local community in shock, and authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause of the fire.
