According to Renault's forecast, although the Chinese market performed poorly last year, the scale of the Chinese market will continue to expand, which makes Renault optimistic about the future development of the Chinese market and full confidence in its upcoming new plant in China. Renault invested 870 million yuan to establish a new automobile plant with Wuhan Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd., which has an annual production capacity of 150,000 vehicles. Renault’s executives said at the inauguration ceremony of the new factory that Renault does not believe that the timing of entering the Chinese market is not appropriate.

Renault is still a marginal manufacturer in the Chinese market, which is different from Nissan. Before the completion of the new factory, Renault lacked production capacity in China, and the related vehicles could only rely on imports, which greatly increased the price of the Renault models and made the Renault models less competitive in the market. However, the entry of Renault into China is accompanied by the downturn in China's entire economy. The performance of the Chinese auto market in 2015 was not satisfactory, but it is predicted that the size of the Chinese market will increase by 4%-6% in 2016, which still provides opportunities for automakers to develop.

The development of Renault in China will depend heavily on SUV models. The demand for SUV models in the Chinese market is strong, and the growth rate of China's SUV market has been growing at around 50%. Renault's first production line in China will generate Renault Kadjar   SUV models and Fluence models. The number of Renault's current dealers in China is also gradually increasing, reaching 150.
