The Long Grove Fire Protection District (FPD) and surrounding fire departments responded just after 2:00 AM this morning to a residential structure fire at 21605 N. Tiffany Court in Kildeer. Witnesses reported heavy black smoke pouring from a large, two-story home, prompting the alarm to be upgraded to a MABAS Box Alarm, followed by a second alarm within minutes. The fire quickly escalated, with flames reaching over 60 feet into the air and the entire house fully engulfed. The home was located in a remote subdivision with no nearby hydrants, which forced firefighters to rely on water tenders for supply. The incident was elevated to a third alarm, along with additional fifth alarm units that arrived from Cook, Lake, McHenry, and Kenosha counties. Water supply operations involved four portable tanks and dozens of tenders shuttling water from two fill sites. Fire engines from Lake Zurich and Lake Bluff were drafting water to supply a quint from Buffalo Grove, another from Barrington, and lines operated by Long Grove Squad 55. Emergency responders worked tirelessly under challenging conditions, with multiple crews on scene managing the blaze and preventing it from spreading to nearby structures. Local residents were advised to stay indoors due to the intense smoke and heat. As of now, the cause of the fire is under investigation, and no injuries have been reported. Photos from the scene, captured by Larry Shapiro, show the intensity of the fire and the coordinated efforts of first responders. Multiple images are available, highlighting the scale of the operation and the dedication of the firefighters involved. The community remains on alert as officials continue to monitor the situation.
