China's first independently developed 800 kV ultra-high voltage double-break tank circuit breaker was officially unveiled on the 18th at Xi'an Xikai High Voltage Electric Co., Ltd., under China Xidian Group. This groundbreaking product marks a major milestone in China's power equipment industry, as its technical specifications have reached international leading standards. The successful development of this device has broken the long-standing monopoly held by a few global companies in the manufacturing of 800 kV switchgear, significantly enhancing China's capabilities in high-voltage electrical equipment production.
According to reports, prior to this achievement, no domestic company was capable of producing 800 kV high-voltage switchgear. Internationally, most manufacturers still relied on three- or four-break circuit breakers, which were considered technologically outdated. This gap had limited the growth and efficiency of China's power infrastructure. As a key player in the domestic switchgear industry, Xi'an Xikai High Voltage Electric Co., Ltd. embarked on an independent R&D journey since September 2003. Over the years, the company's research team worked tirelessly, completing multiple pilot projects including prototype manufacturing and trial assembly. In July 2006, the product successfully passed the acceptance inspection organized by the National Development and Reform Commission, marking a significant step forward in China's technological self-reliance.
