Mud flaps can effectively block the mud and sand particles that the car drives during driving, preventing mud and water from splashing onto the body and dirtying passengers' clothes when getting on and off the car door. In addition to the fenders behind the wheels, mudguards can to some extent help keep the rear of the car clean.
The Countryside Fire Protection District (FPD) responded to a reported house fire at 1111 Dearborn Lane in Vernon Hills this afternoon. Upon arrival, crews found heavy flames engulfing the two-story, single-family residence. To ensure adequate resources, the incident commander requested a MABAS Box Alarm for additional units and later escalated the alarm to full box status, allowing all necessary companies to be dispatched to the scene.
The fire was quickly contained, and the Box Alarm was called off before all units arrived on-site. This swift response helped minimize damage and ensured the safety of nearby residents.
According to Larry Shapiro, who captured the scene:
> "I arrived as the Box Alarm was being struck out. It was a fast-moving situation, but the crews handled it well."
