The Countryside Fire Protection District (FPD) responded to a reported house fire at 1111 Dearborn Lane in Vernon Hills this afternoon. Upon arrival, firefighters found significant flames burning inside the two-story single-family home. The incident was initially handled by on-duty units, but due to the intensity of the fire, a MABAS Box Alarm was requested to bring in additional resources. As the situation developed, the alarm was escalated to include the full box alarm assignment, ensuring adequate staffing and equipment for the scene.
The fire was quickly brought under control, and by the time all responding units arrived, the Box Alarm had already been struck out. This swift action helped minimize damage and ensured the safety of the property and surrounding area.
According to Larry Shapiro, who witnessed the event:
