BCFPD was called to the 0-100 block of Liberty Drive in South Barrington after a report of a fully involved fire in an attached garage. Upon arrival, firefighters found a single-family home with a garage fully engulfed in flames, and the fire had already spread into the kitchen area.
The incident was immediately upgraded to a Code 4 working fire, indicating a high level of response needed. Fire crews launched an aggressive attack using both interior and exterior water lines to contain the blaze.
Due to the intensity of the fire, a MABAS box alarm was activated to bring in additional resources. A tender shuttle operation was set up to ensure a continuous water supply, and within 30 minutes, the system was delivering 1,000 gallons per minute.
The fire remained contained to the original area, though heavy smoke and water damage were reported throughout the structure. Salvage efforts began as the situation was brought under control.
All occupants safely evacuated without serious injuries and were checked by paramedics on scene. Fortunately, no firefighters were injured during the operation.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and officials are working to determine what led to the incident.
